Short History of the Hospital
In the Grand scope of the globe we always see good deed men who, though have passed away since long but revive their name and memory in any location with their ever present charity that they have left. The deceased, Mirza Mohammadkhalil Khalili Shirazi is among the men whose high ideas and benevolent spirit and the need of the people of Shiraz to the hospital for treatment of eye , ear , throat and nose diseases led to the construction of Khalili Hospital in the year 1966 with a built  area of about 2500 m2 ,

complete with all scientific and technical equipment being given as a pious endowment to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. That center began its educational- medicare work with a capacity of 25 inpatient beds. Since then . from 1967, sections of ophthalmology and otolaryngology were translocated from Faghihi Hospital to Khalili Hospital while Education being continued to Medical student and resident at this hospital since then. At the present, there are 16 faculty members in the ophthalmology center and 8in the otolaryngology section.
Gradually, with the initiative of the relevant manager and officials during the past years, measures have been taken for its refurbishmentand development and at the present, with 88 active beds and 150 pending beds with a built area of about 8534 square meters, and enjoying the knowledge and experience of the university teachers , it is serving the clients as a unique specialized and sub-specialized center for ophthalmology and otolaryngology center in south Iran. As a specialized and sub-specialized ophthalmology and otolaryngology center and the only public center for cochlea implant in south Iranian region, it has been ranked as the first class and is among the greatest major educational-healthcare centers at the Fars province level, so that in addition to treatment of patients referring to it, it is serving as a base for medical research and education and a center for training paramedical and medical students at specialized and sub-specialized levels. Each year, the number of medical students in the affiliated fields of study and specialized residents learn courses on clinical sciences as supervised by members of the faculty and presidents of different sections of their hospital. Also, it has an extensive treatment coverage. The emergency section of the hospital with the presence of specialists in different fields of ophthalmology and otolaryngology is active in providing medical service to the clients round clock. The Para- clinical sections of the hospital consist of the radiology section, sciascopy, lab, pathology, audiology, speech therapy and office of cochlea implantation which serve in connection with diagnosis and treatment.
